CBP Announces New Mobile Passport Control Application

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the launch of the first authorized app to expedite a traveler’s entry process into the United States. According to the CBP newsroom, the Mobile Passport app “will allow eligible travelers to submit their passport information and customs declaration form via a smartphone or tablet prior to CBP inspection. This first-of-its-kind app was developed by Airside Mobile and Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) in partnership with CBP as part of a pilot program at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.”

For October 2014, EB-2 China priority dates have moved forward approximately 1 month, to November 15, 2009. For all other countries, EB-2 priority dates remain the same.

In the EB-3 category, China has progressed approximately 5 months, to April 1, 2009. EB-3 India priority dates have progressed approximately one week, to November 15, 2003. All other countries EB-3 have jumped forward six months, to October 1, 2011.

Note: According to the U.S. Department of State, retrogression of the EB-2 India priority dates is imminent due to anticipated high demand in this category. This retrogression is anticipated to take effect in November 2014, and may result in EB-2 India priority dates falling back to as far as 2005. A major factor in this anticipated retrogression is the large volume of EB-3 to EB-2 upgrades for Indian-born applicants.
