COVID-19 Temporary Flexibilities for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, Will End on July 31, 2023—Be Aware of Possible Employer Obligations
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has ended the COVID-19 temporary flexibilities for Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, effective July 31, 2023. Employers will have until August 30, 2023, to complete in-person physical document inspections for all employees whose documents were inspected remotely during the temporary flexibilities period that ran from March 2020 through July 2023.
