CBP Implements Stampless Entry at All U.S. Airports

In December 2023, U.S. Custom and Border Protection (CBP) fully implemented Simplified Arrival at all U.S. airports. Under this enhanced international arrival process, CBP seeks to automate the inspection process by using facial recognition and other technologies to scan and match images of arriving travelers’ faces with existing traveler images from government databases such as photos of passports and visas.

As part of Simplified Arrival, CBP has stopped issuing ink entry stamps in travelers’ passports—also known as Stampless Entry. This began as a pilot program at designated airports, but is now deployed at all U.S. airports. Without ink entry stamps, it will be especially important that foreign nationals entering the U.S. by air double-check their electronic I-94 records on CBP’s website to verify that they have been admitted in the correct classification and for the correct duration. If you note an error or that your I-94 was not updated upon your last arrival, please contact your attorney at McCown & Evans LLP.
